It’s Summer.

I’m coming off eight or 10 days of a sinus infection and finally feeling like I can sort of think straight again. As much as I’d like to deny it, I think I’m one of those people who should just suck it up and take allergy medicine most of the year, or at least during the warmer months. That underwater, half-dizzy, head-exploding sinus stuff is the worst.

When we first bought this house the neighbor kid said he enjoyed picking our raspberries. Four years later we finally found the canes, behind a currant bush and a honeysuckle, and tonight there was about a tablespoon of very sweet black ones to be had.

Also our volunteer squash friends have turned out to be zucchini and white acorn squash.

Cat Piano

We are so not into battery toys here. I let this one come home with us from my brother’s to make the hour drive a little more tolerable. Little did I know this thing meows EVERYTHING. And it comes with a huge catalog of songs on it. This morning we discovered the meowed version of “Beautiful Dreamer.” Strangely enough the cat piano is just weird enough to fit in with our lives. I don’t think my brother’s kids (or my brother) will miss it.
