So today I bought some yarn from WEBS. They have a very excellent discount deal. I did comparison shopping and they really are cheaper after the discount. I think I heard about this place recently from Carolyn. Are you using one of their cone yarns for your Ribster? If so, which one?
I ordered 10 skeins of Lamb’s Pride Worsted in Sable for my very own cardigan. It is probably more yardage than I’ll need, but a little extra won’t hurt and would be good for a stripe or two in something else.
After talking to my friend Tom the big New York advertising copywriter last night, I realized he’s turning 40 in November! One more project for the knitting to-do list! So for him, I have purchased 6 balls of sage-green Plymouth Indiecita Alpaca (color 1280) to make a scarf. I think he’ll like it.
Today’s music of choice in the office has been Oeuvres pour Piano by Erik Satie, performed by Anne Queffelec with Catherine Collard on the piano-4-hands parts. I love this record.

Hey, I had a craft supply/clothing swap at my place yesterday, featuring several wonderful ladies I met on get crafty, and all their stuff! It was like Christmas or something.

And Carolyn says Lopi is scratchy! As I suspected. I’ll probably go with Lamb’s Pride.

Hmm. It looks like I may not be able to get the lovely yarn I wanted to make myself a cardigan with this fall. I need about 10 skeins of worsted weight and I’d really like to go with a soft 100% wool or wool with a bit of mohair. I am considering some other alternatives, and I’d love advice from anybody that has tried these:
1. Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride Worsted (any difference between the regular and the superwash, other than, um, superwash?). I’ve used the bulky before and I liked it.
2. Cascade 220.
3. Reynolds Lopi.
I don’t know why, the Lopi just looks more scratchy in online pictures. Is it? The price makes me think it might be scratchy too.
My sweater pattern is stockinette with a little picot edging, nothing too complicated. No stripes either, just a solid color this time.
The Knitters’ Review reviews don’t include these three, for my intended purpose anyway.

A few things.
I have spent this entire week in Management Skills Training, away from my office, which is kind of good and kind of bad. I got a kangaroo for participating (since the training is conducted by my hospital’s LEAP dept., get it?).

I’m making a scarf to match the mittens now. I only have US10.5 needles in 14″ and I forgot how annoying it can be to knit with those on the train–they’re too long and they bonk whoever is next to me. So I’ve only knitted at lunch breaks. I should get some circs that size!
And another thing keeping progress slow…yoga started again this week after an 8-week hiatus, and I decided to join the advanced class. So, I’m a little sore!
Stanley wouldn’t look at me for this picture. He loves to sit on piles of stuff, but for all our effort we can’t get him to help with Rodney’s homework too.

So…as I was putting on lotion after my shower this morning, I realized I had only shaved one of my legs in the shower! That’s the dumbest thing I’ve done in a while.
This weekend was full of crafty stuff, including the annual inventory-reduction sale at my less-than-favorite LYS (yes I went anyway), the Renegade Craft Fair and a new Craft-n-Chat meeting out in Downer’s Grove. I got to meet Carolyn to whom I have linked for a while now! Hi!
At the yarn sale, I brought home about 15 new skeins of yarn, including more purple Lang Polar, two colors of Lang Thais (mohair with a bit of polyamid–I plan to double it with something else), some Filatura di Crosa Zara (so nice) and another mohair/acrylic blend that feels fuzzy and good. The atmosphere in the store was pleasant for a change, and they actually had price lists available to use while shopping!
Rodney and I also went to a White Sox game Saturday night, which was fun even though they lost. Oh well, we aren’t die-hard baseball fans, and the fireworks afterward more than made up for any disappointment one might have felt.
Things I’ve finished lately:

The pink hat is a gift for an unemployed acquaintance. It turned out a bit more goofy than intended. And the mittens are for my sister. One thumb curls but the other doesn’t–curious!
